Press Release – Gifted Kids Programme
1 March 2013
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Gifted Kids Board Appoints New Chair
Gifted Kids Board of Trustees and CEO, Deb Clark, are delighted to announce the appointment of new Board Chair, Len Ward. Mr Ward has been a board member of Gifted Kids since 2011 and is enthusiastic about taking on this new role.
“I am very excited about being appointed chair and about the opportunities that this new role will bring,” says Mr Ward.
Mr Ward comes to this position with a wealth of experience and knowledge that he is keen to use in this role but also in the wider Gifted Kids community. Since joining the Gifted Kids board he has been actively involved in engaging with our students and supporting the fundraising efforts required to fund Gifted Kids.
Earlier this month, Ward launched a personal fundraiser supported by Gifted Kids to help raise awareness for the cause and raise money to aid the continuation of the programme.
“Being ‘gifted’ comes with its own challenges, so I will be undertaking my own challenge when we reach the required target,” Ward says.
“Hopefully, in April you will see me doing the Skyjump from the Auckland Sky Tower. When we reach the $10,000 fundraising target, I will be launching myself off the Sky Tower. I know there are lots of people around New Zealand, and the world, waiting to see me do it” Ward says.
Ward was appointed Board Chair at a board meeting earlier this week taking over from Dick Fernyhough who served a temporary term of one year. Mr Fernyhough will remain on the board as Secretary.
